Workflow: Launching an App
Overview
This guide walks you through the complete workflow of navigating to the Launcher, selecting your context, and opening an application in FlowState.
Time Required: ~1 minute Skill Level: Beginner
Prerequisites
Before starting this workflow:
- FlowState is installed and running
- You have access to at least one organization
- Applications are registered in the system
Steps
Step 1: Access the Launcher
Open the Launcher using one of these methods:

| Keyboard | Press Cmd+Shift+H (macOS) or Ctrl+Shift+H (Windows/Linux) |
| URL | Navigate directly to / (root route) |
| Startup | The Launcher opens automatically when FlowState starts |

Step 2: Review the Status Bar
Check the status bar at the top of the Launcher to understand your current context:

- Mode: Indicates local or remote connection mode
- Servers: Number of active server connections
- Org: Your current organization

Step 3: Select Organization and Workspace (Optional)
If you need to change your context:
- Locate the Organization/Workspace Selector below the status bar
- Click to open the dropdown menu
- Select the desired organization from the list
- Choose the appropriate workspace within that organization

Note: Your selection is automatically saved and persists across sessions.
Step 4: Find Your Target App
Browse the app grid to find the application you want to open:
- Apps are displayed as visual cards in a responsive grid
- Each card shows:
- Colored icon representing the app
- App name displayed prominently
- Description explaining the app's purpose

Step 5: Launch the App
Click on the app card to navigate to the selected application:
- Hover over the card to see the highlight effect
- Click the card to navigate
- The app opens in the main content area

Expected Results
After completing this workflow:
- You are navigated to the selected application
- The app loads with your current organization/workspace context
- The Shell navigation updates to show you're in the new app
- You can return to the Launcher at any time using
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+H
Alternative Methods
Using Keyboard Shortcuts
For power users, navigate without touching the Launcher:

If you know an app's route, navigate directly:

Troubleshooting
Issue: App card doesn't respond to clicks
Solution:
- Refresh the page (
Cmd/Ctrl+R) - Check browser console for JavaScript errors
- Ensure the app is properly registered
Issue: App shows "Not Found" after clicking
Solution:
- The app route may not be configured correctly
- Check that the app package is built
- Verify the
basePathin the app'sflowstate.json
Issue: Organization selector is empty
Solution:
- Verify you're authenticated
- Check your user permissions
- Ensure the database connection is active
